BACOLOD CITY – All winning candidates in Negros Occidental in the May 12 elections have been proclaimed, Provincial Election Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said.

Fourteen out of the 31 local government units in the province have new mayors. The remaining 17 local chief executives were reelected.

New mayors were Councilor Mayette Javellana who defeated Vice Mayor Ramon Torres in Bago City; Jose Luis Jalandoni won against Mayor Rex Jalandoon of La Carlota City; former Binalbagan Mayor Manuel Aranda emerged victorious in his comeback against Mayor Alejandro Mirasol; and unopposed Councilor and former Mayor Richard Jaojoco registered a comeback win in Toboso.
Other LGUs with new mayors are Nehemiah de la Cruz, Don Salvador Benedicto; Mikaela Escalante, Manapla; Abelardo Bantug III, Victorias City; lawyer Rowena Lizares, Talisay City; Matthew Louis Malacon, E.B. Magalona; Ricardo Presbitero, Valladolid; Mary Grace Arceo, Hinigaran; Miguel Yulo, Isabela; Añejo Nicor, La Castellana, and Leo Rafael Cueva, Sagay City.
Reelected mayors were Renato Gustilo, San Carlos City; Marilyn Era, Calatrava; Melecio Yap, Escalante City; Salvador Escalante Jr., Cadiz City; Joedith Gallego, Silay City; Gerry Rojas, Murcia; Jose Maria Alonso, Pontevedra; Miguel Peña, Pulupandan; Jilson Tubillara, San Enrique; Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo, Moises Padilla; Raymund Tongson, Himamaylan City; Gina Lizares, Sipalay City; Benjie Miranda, Kabankalan City; Ray Ruiz, Candoni; John Rey Tabujara, Cauayan; Daph Reliquias, Hinoba-an, and John Paul Alvarez, Ilog.
Winning vice mayors in the first district were Christopher Carmona, San Carlos City; Florido Dinapo, Calatrava; Rogelio Prietos, Escalante City; Maria Luisa dela Cruz, Toboso, and Jugin Bandolon, Salvador Benedicto.
In the second district, they were Narciso Javelosa, Sagay City; John Vincent Escalante, Cadiz City, and Edgar Pagayonan, Manapla.
In the third district, they were Francis Frederick Palanca, Victorias City; Angel Gabriel Villacin, Talisay City; Thomas Ledesma, Silay City; Marvin Malacon, E.B. Magalona, and Johnny Reosura, Murcia.
In the fourth district, they were Andrew Torres, Bago City; David Baga Jr., La Carlota City; Maria Silveria Gilbor-Matti, Pontevedra; Anthony Gerard Suatengco, Pulupandan; Reynaldo Severino, San Enrique, and Shirley Nacion, Valladolid.
In the fifth district, they were Mary Ann Mirasol, Binalbagan; Nadie Arceo, Hinigaran; Renato Malabor Jr., Isabela; Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan, La Castellana; Felix Mathias Yulo, Moises Padilla, and Justin Gatuslao, Himamaylan City.
In the sixth district, they were Edgy Javellana, Candoni; Anna Liza Tabujara Soriano, Cauayan; Francisco Jose Bilbao Jr., Hinoba-an, John Paulo Alvarez, Ilog; Divina Gracia Miranda, Kabankalan City, and Oscar Montilla Jr., Sipalay City.
Elected members of the provincial board were Laurence Marxlen dela Cruz and Araceli Somosa (first district), Arthur Christopher Marañon and Sixto Guanzon Jr. (second district), Andrew Gerard Montelibano and lawyer Hope Marey Sazon (third district), Patricia Paula Valderrama and Nicholas Yulo (fourth district), Hadji Trojillo and Dr. Rita Angela Gatuslao (fifth district), and Genaro Alvarez IV and Jeffrey Tubola (sixth district).
Winning congressmen were Julio Ledesma IV (first district), Alfredo Marañon III (second), Javier Miguel Benitez (third),
Jeffrey Ferrer (fourth), Emilio Yulo III (fifth), and Mercedes Alvarez (sixth), and Albee Benitez (Bacolod).
Marañon, Alvarez, and Yulo are serving their second terms while Ledesma, Ferrer, and the Benitezes are on their first term.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson was reelected for his third and final term while his running mate Jose Benito Alonso was elected for his first term.
The Commission on Elections said that the province had 2,009,564 registered voters, including Bacolod City. Voter turnout was 83.22 percent, with 1,369,632 individuals casting their votes.
In the Negros Island Region (NIR), Negros Oriental had an 85.23 percent voter turnout or 831,963, while Siquijor had 91.84 percent or 74,758.
