The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) confiscated undocumented imported Right-Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles from an establishment allegedly involved in illegal trading in Tandang Sora, Quezon City on Thursday, May 15.
The QCPD and Land Transportation Office (LTO) Central Office conducted a joint inspection at Faequip Corporation Yard, San Pedro Compound 5 in Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City, following reports circulating on social media regarding the questionable sale of imported vehicles.
During the inspection, authorities discovered several second-hand RHD Isuzu Elf trucks on the premises. When asked to provide proof of legal acquisition, the establishment's representative submitted a mayor’s permit issued under AL TOFIQ Truck and Parts Corporation, along with four original Certificates of Registration (CRs) and LTO-issued plate numbers.
However, officials noticed that the documents appeared to have been obtained through non-appearance transactions in the LTO District Office in Iligan City, allegedly costing P15,000 per set.
Police also confiscated four Certificates of Registration for further investigation.
Meanwhile, two undocumented RHD Isuzu Elf trucks were seized in the presence of barangay officials from Brgy. Pasong Tamo, Quezon City, and were brought to QCPD for proper documentation and verification.
“The QCPD reaffirms its shared commitment with the LTO to strictly enforce motor vehicle laws and prevent the proliferation of illegal vehicle trading and fraudulent transactions,” QCPD Officer-In-Charge Police Colonel Randy Glenn Silvio said.
“Through intensified coordination and sustained operations, we aim to hold violators accountable and protect the public from being victimized by these unlawful schemes,” he added.
