BACOLOD CITY – A 41-year-old man was shot and wounded by the police after he attempted to set fire to a fuel pump in a gasoline station in Barangay Santo Rosario, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental on Thursday, May 15.
Cops shoot bolo-wielding man trying to set gasoline station on fire
Police said the 25-year-old gasoline station manager requested for assistance following an alleged act of malicious mischief.
Responding officers found the suspect armed with a bolo.
Despite police presence, he reportedly struck one of the pump meters with the bladed weapon.
Authorities tried to de-escalate the situation through verbal warnings and negotiation but the suspect allegedly lit a piece of cloth and tried to ignite the fuel pump.
To prevent potential explosion, police shot the suspect in the left leg.
He was taken to an infirmary and transferred to a hospital.
Police still investigating the motive behind the suspect’s actions.
