The United Kingdom has appointed Sarah Anne Pascale Hulton as its newest ambassador to the Philippines, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) said in a post on its official website.

“Mrs. Sarah Hulton OBE has been appointed His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines and His Majesty’s non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Palau in succession to Ms. Laure Beaufils,” the announcement read.
The new envoy is expected to take up her appointment in September this year.
On X (formerly Twitter), Beaufils welcomed the new appointment.
“Many congratulations, #SarahHulton, on your appointment as HM Ambassador to the Philippines & to Palau! I know you will be a tremendous ambassador, & love both countries as much as I do,” she wrote.
A curriculum vitae published on the FCDO’s website showed that Hulton was previously appointed to Manila as Second Secretary Political PPA from 2005 to 2008.
She also had a full-time language training in Tagalog at the then-Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) from 2004 to 2005 prior to her appointment in Manila.
FCO was renamed to FCDO in 2020.
First joining FCO in 2002, Hulton held various positions; the latest being FCDO’s Interim Director Overseas Territories and Polar Directorate from 2024 to present.
She was also once its deputy director for human resources and interim director geopolitics and deputy political director.
Before the merger of the FCO and the Department for International Development, Hulton was head of the DPRK department, Pacific department, conflict prevention team, weapons of mass destruction controls, and child abduction unit and consular human rights in various years.
She was also the head of the political section in Harare from 2012 to 2015 and the British high commissioner in Colombo from 2019 to 2023.
