The Navotas City government launched a program offering rice at P20 per kilo in support of the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Rice Project.

The launch was held on Wednesday, May 14 at the Kadiwa Center in Navotas City Hall and Agora Market.
According to the Public Information Office (PIO), the DA initially delivered 75 sacks of rice.
The program aims to help vulnerable sectors such as 4Ps beneficiaries, senior citizens, PWDs, and solo parents by making rice affordable. Each person can buy up to 10 kilos of rice per week.
It also aims to reduce the impact of rising food prices and ensure that people in need have enough to eat.
The DA runs the program through the Food Terminal Inc. (FTI) in partnership with local governments.
Mayor John Rey Tiangco expressed full support for the program.
“We thank President Bongbong Marcos and the Department of Agriculture for making this possible. Sa halagang P20 kada kilo, makakasigurado tayong hindi lang mura kundi de-kalidad na bigas ang mabibili ang bawat Navoteño, lalo na ang nasa vulnerable sectors (We thank President Bongbong Marcos and the Department of Agriculture for making this possible. At 20 pesos per kilo, we can be assured that every Navoteño—especially those in vulnerable sectors—will have access not only to affordable but also high-quality rice),” he said.
