ILOILO CITY – Broadcaster Salvador “Jun” Capulot Jr. was found guilty of three counts of cyber libel filed by contractor Shariko Salcedo, three days after losing in the elections for councilor here.
The Iloilo City Regional Trial Court Branch 39 on Thursday, May 15, found Capulot guilty. He was ordered to pay damages amounting to thousands of pesos.
The case stemmed from comments made on air by Capulot in three separate occasions in September and October 2020.
During the radio commentaries, Capulot referred to someone as “Shaq.”
Capulot said that a contractor in Guimaras province is corrupt and an addict.
In Guimaras, it is publicly known that the only contractor named Shaq is Shariko Salcedo.
Capulot is no stranger to cyber libel and libel charges with his acerbic commentaries. He has faced numerous cases for more than a dozen years not only in Iloilo City or Iloilo province but also in other places in Panay Island, including Roxas City.
