Hatamans proclaimed in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Rep. Mujiv Hataman and wife Sitti have been proclaimed as Basilan governor and Isabela City, Basilan mayor, respectively.

Mujiv won a hotly-contested and close fight with his nephew, Atty. Jay Hataman Salliman.

Hataman garnered 121,829 votes compared to Salliman’s 118,840.

“Mahigpit ang laban kasi 3,000 votes lang ang pagitan namin,” Hataman said in an interview with reporters.

(We had a close fight because only 3,000 votes separated us)

Hataman took over from former Gov. Jim Hataman Salliman, his rival’s father.

Sitti secured a third term after winning over closest rival Kifli Salliman.

Mrs. Hataman was proclaimed as mayor on May 13 at the Isabela City Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall.

Mujiv and Sitti will assume office at noon on June 30.
