Duterte family relaxes after grueling 2025 polls

DAVAO CITY – In a rare and intimate photo shared with the public, members of the Duterte family gathered in a cozy setting, sharing lighthearted moments as they prepared for an upcoming Thanksgiving celebration.

Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte posted the photo in what appears to be a private room adorned with pillows and soft bedding on his official Facebook page on Thursday evening, May 15.
In the photo taken by Vice President Sara Duterte, she was with her brothers and sister, Rep. Duterte, Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte, and Veronica Duterte, with their nephews, incoming second district Rep. Omar Vincent Duterte and Councilor Rodrigo Duterte II.
The photograph shows the family in relaxed conversation, starkly contrasting their typically formal appearances in the public eye, in what Rep. Duterte says was an informal planning session for a Thanksgiving event.
“Not everything will always go how we want it to, but there is always something to be grateful for. Family meeting for Thanksgiving! See you all soon!” Rep. Duterte said.
The lawmaker also expressed how they missed their father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently facing legal proceedings at The Hague in the Netherlands for alleged crimes against humanity.
Rep. Duterte said the gathering will celebrate gratitude, unity, and family — a gesture of thanks to those who have stood by them through years of political and personal milestones.
While details of the event remain under wraps, it is anticipated to highlight the Dutertes’ continuing message of service, reflection, and solidarity — values that have defined their legacy in public life.
The Duterte family, known for their strong political presence in Mindanao, particularly in Davao City and national politics, rarely shares personal moments such as these.
The candid photo has since garnered positive reactions online, with supporters praising the family’s closeness and humility.
