'30-second massacre:' 2 teens rescued from Noveleta hazing
CAVITE – Two hazing victims, including a minor, were rescued from a hazing rite dubbed as the “30-second massacre” in Noveleta on May 11.
A report forwarded by the Noveleta Municipal Police Station (MPS) to the Manila Bulletin on Thursday, May 15, said the victims were an 18-year-old resident of Tanza and a 15-year-old resident of Cavite City.
Information from the Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) said both victims sustained injuries in various parts of their bodies as a result of the initiation rites.
Initial investigation revealed that barangay public safety officers discovered the initiation rites being held at a property in Brgy. San Rafael 3.
The “30-second masssacre” is an initiation rite where a neophyte is continuously beaten for half a minute.
Noveleta MPS collared 10 individuals during the incident, including four minors.
The suspects were identified as alias John, alias Jasper, alias Mark, alias Ian, alias Ram, and alias Jay. Another suspect, alias Alex, is currently at large.
The children in-conflict with the law (CICLs), meanwhile, were identified as alias Tan, 17, alias Cholo, 16, alias Jumong, 17, and alias Mil, 15.
The arrested suspects are now under the custody of Noveleta MPS and are facing charges for violating the Anti-Hazing Law.
The CICLs, on the other hand, were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.
