BINMALEY, Pangasinan – Vice Mayor Simplicio “Sammy” Rosario resigned from his position allegedly due to irreconcilable differences with Mayor Pedro “Pete” Merrera III and members of the Sangguniang Bayan.
Rosario stepped down after he lost to Merrera for mayor in the May 12 elections.

The Vice Mayor posted a message on Facebook that says:
“My Farewell Message to the People of Binmaley
“My journey as a public servant began in 1995. Alongside my wife, we embarked on this path here in our beloved hometown of Binmaley, driven by a shared vision: To uphold good governance and elevate our town through honest leadership, equal access to social services, and sustainable infrastructure development. Our dream was simple yet profound—to make Binmaley a town that we could all be proud of.
He added that he made sacrifices not for personal gain, but because of deep and abiding love for Binmaley and its people.
“Now, at 76-years-old, I once again offer a personal sacrifice. I am stepping aside to help prevent further conflict and division, and to put an end to the cycle of vindictiveness that continues to affect our community. This decision does not come lightly. It is one I have prayed over and carefully considered, in the hope that it may help restore unity, peace, and mutual respect among us."
Rosario said his resignation is effective May 16.
He appealed to Merrera: "Please spare those who have stood by me—our hardworking municipal employees, barangay officials, and ordinary citizens who simply want to serve and contribute to the betterment of our town. Let us not punish loyalty or commitment to public service."
His resignation was addressed to Gov. Ramon V. Guico III. He has yet to act on the matter.
Rosario’s son Jonas also resigned as barangay captain of Barangay Nagpalangan, Binmaley.
