ZAMBOANGA CITY – First district Rep. Khymer Olaso was proclaimed the new mayor here on Tuesday, May 13.

Olaso defeated Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe.
Former Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco was elected vice mayor while Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office consultant Kat Chua defeated Vice Mayor Pinpin Pareja as first district representative.
Former Liga ng mga Barangay head Councilor Jerry Perez beat Mayor John Dalipe for the second congressional seat.
Elected first district councilors were Atty. Mel Sadain, Litlit Macrohon, Dan Vicente, Joel Esteban, Atty. Vladimir Jimenez, El King Omaga, Bong Atilano, and Atty. Gian Enriquez.
Elected in the second district were James Siason, BG Guingona, Atty. Jihan Edding, Kim Villaflores, Junnie Navarro, Hannah Nuño, Fred Atilano, and Rey Bayoging.
Akbayan third nominee
A member of an Indigenous People’s group here will sit as third nominee of Akbayan party-list.
Dada Kiram Ismula, a resident of Samariki Island Ancestral Domain in Barangay Talon Talon, is assured of a congressional seat together with other Akbayan candidates, Chel Diokno and Percival Cendaña.
Ismula served as chief of staff of Councilor Aida Paniorotan, the IP representative at the city council.
She said she was surprised that Akbayan received 2.7 million votes, enabling all their nominees to sit in the House of Representatives.
Akbayan was able to garner 16,000 votes in Zamboanga City.
She vowed to put up Akbayan satellite offices here.
