As plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) become more popular among Filipino motorists seeking lower emissions and improved fuel economy, Mercedes-Benz aims to position itself at the forefront of this transition in the premium segment. PHEVs offer the advantage of running on battery power for short trips, significantly reducing fuel costs and emissions, while maintaining the flexibility of a gasoline engine for longer journeys. In urban settings such as Metro Manila, PHEVs also enjoy additional perks like coding exemptions.
E-Class PHEV
At the heart of the new lineup is the all-new E 350e Plug-in Hybrid, a refreshed take on Mercedes-Benz’s popular executive sedan. This version combines the familiar silhouette and star-mounted bonnet of the E-Class with modern electrification and digital luxury. The exterior wears the Exclusive Design package, highlighted by chrome trim elements, a radiator grille with three double louvres, and 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels finished in black with a high-sheen surface.
Inside, the E 350e features the MBUX Superscreen system—a 14.4-inch central touchscreen paired with a 12.3-inch passenger display under a single glass panel—enhanced by a visual shield for safe usage on the move. Adding further appeal is a Burmester 4D surround sound system with 17 speakers, four exciters, and Dolby Atmos capability, offering an immersive acoustic experience.
Occupants benefit from Thermotronic automatic climate control with four zones, climatized front seats, and additional features like the Panoramic Sliding Sunroof, Keyless-Go Convenience Package, and the Guard 360° Vehicle Protection Package. On the electrification front, the E 350e supports AC charging at up to 11 kW, and comes equipped with a Type 2 charging socket, a domestic charging cable, and a 7kW wallbox charger with a 5-meter cable.
GLC PHEV
Accompanying the sedan is the GLC 350e Plug-in Hybrid, an electrified version of the brand’s best-selling SUV. Geared for urban and suburban versatility, the GLC PHEV features a spacious 1,530-liter cargo capacity with the rear seats folded down, along with comfort features like the Comfort Package Plus and ambient lighting.
Inside, the GLC 350e showcases the latest generation of the MBUX multimedia system on an 11.9-inch touchscreen, integrated with "Hey Mercedes" voice control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad. The Burmester sound system, automatic climate control, and electrically adjustable seats further enhance the cabin’s premium feel.
Under the hood, the GLC 350e pairs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor to deliver 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque. It offers an all-electric driving range of over 100 kilometers, making it suitable for emission-free city driving. Standard equipment includes 4Matic all-wheel drive, an Off-Road drive mode, Dynamic Select, and the Transparent Bonnet feature, which displays a virtual view beneath the front axle for navigating difficult terrain.
Both PHEV models benefit from comprehensive safety systems, including active brake assist, active lane keeping assist, attention assist, and the pre-safe system. The GLC 350e is also equipped with adaptive high beam assist, Keyless-Go, and Guard 360° Vehicle Protection.
The GLC 350e comes in Polar White, Verde Silver, Graphite Grey, and Obsidian Black. The E 350e is also available in these shades, along with Nautic Blue.
