The Manila Police District (MPD) announced the successful and generally peaceful conduct of the midterm elections in the City of Manila.
MPD Director Brigadier Gen. Benigno L. Guzman said no major incidents were recorded that disrupted the electoral process across all districts, affirming the effectiveness of the city’s comprehensive security and coordination efforts.
Guzman noted that the smooth execution of the elections is attributed to the MPD’s strategic deployment plan, carried out in close collaboration with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and various partner agencies from the government and private sectors.
The MPD also activated the District Election Monitoring Action Center (DEMAC) and Station Election Monitoring Action Center (SEMAC), launched Comelec checkpoints, enforced the gun ban, and spearheaded voter education campaigns through community outreach and social media platforms.
The inter-agency approach included regular coordination meetings, signing solidarity pacts, and peace covenants that emphasized unity and the peaceful exercise of suffrage.
“Baklas” operations (removal of illegal campaign materials), final precinct inspections, and continued public engagement also supported an efficient election day.
There were 3,476 personnel deployed across the city, including 3,326 from the MPD, 150 from the national headquarters, and 661 from other government and partner agencies.
Authorities said Manila, which has 1,142,174 registered voters across 896 barangays, was seen with active public participation.
While minor disturbances and election-related complaints were reported, Guzman said all were immediately addressed by legal and procedural standards, and none escalated into incidents that compromised the integrity of the elections.
“The Manila Police District remains steadfast in upholding the law and the principles of non-partisanship and democracy,” added Guzman.
