Losing is part of the elections, and it's never an easy result to deal with.
In the case of Makati City 2nd district Rep. Luis Campos Jr., he took solace in the fact that he campaigned with "dignity and honesty" in his quest to become mayor of the city.
"Nais kong ipaabot ang aking taos-pusong pasasalamat para sa patuloy na pagtitiwala at pagsuporta sa amin (I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your continued trust and support)," Campos wrote on Facebook Wednesday night, May 14.
"Lumaban tayo nang may dignidad—nakabatay sa matitibay na plataporma ng mabuting pamamahala, at pinagtibay ng napatunayang karanasan, at konkretong resulta (We fought with dignity—anchored on strong platforms of good governance, fortified by proven experience, and backed by concrete results)," said the solon, who lost by a margin of 29,000 votes to eventual winner Senator Nancy Binay during the May 12 polls.
Campos' emotional parting shot read: "Taas-noo tayong haharap sa lahat, dahil alam natin na naging tapat at makahulugan ang ating kampanya. Hanggang sa muli, #ProudMakatizens! Labyu all! (We will face everyone with our heads held high because we know that our campaign has been honest and meaningful. Until we meet again, #ProudMakatizens! Love you all! )
Campos is the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial candidate outgoing Makati Mayor Abby Binay. She also failed to win a seat in the Senate race.
Makati is home to the Philippines' central business district.
