Gov. Petilla of Leyte reelected
Familiar faces dominate provincial polls
Gov. Jericho Petilla was elected to his second term of office.
Vice Gov. Sandy Javier and his wife, second district Rep. Lolita Karen Javier, were reelected.
Rep. Javier’s son, Jassie Lou Tañala, was reelected mayor and Karen’s brother Tata won as vice mayor in Jaro town.
Sandy’s son Michael Dragon was reelected mayor in Javier.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez was reelected for his third term in the first district. His cousin, Alfred, was reelected as mayor in Tacloban City.
Alfred’s son Raymund was elected vice mayor. The Speaker’s son, Marty, was elected councilor.
Palo Mayor Matin Petilla, the mother of Gov. Petilla was reelected, including Mayor Gina Merilo of Tanauan, Mayor Erwin Ocaña of Tolosa, Mayor Lovely Yu of Alangalang, Leny Lugnasin of Babatngon, Mayor Norman Sabdao of San Miguel, and Mayor Amparo Monteza of Santa Fe.
Reelected in the second district were Mayor Eduardo Ong Jr. of Carigara, Mayor Aron Balais of Barugo, Mayor Alexander de Paz of Mayorga, Mayor Efren Redoña of Tabon-tabon, Mayor Maritess Marcos of Pastrana, Mayor Reinbert Costelo of Tunga, and Mayor Rudin Babante of Macarthur.
Newly-elected mayors include Eric Carolino of Capoocan, Fe Renomeron of Burauen, Joel Cinco of La Paz, Jingle Sudario of Dagami, Jade Agullo of Dulag, and Irvin Dy of Julita.
Rep. Anna Veloso-Tuazon was re-elected in the third district along with her sister Board Member Chinggay Veloso.
Winning mayors were Bebe Batiancela of Calubian, Bebot Veloso of San Isidro, Maricor Remandaban of Tabango, Edgar Veloso of Villaba, and Jed Granados of Leyte town.
Fourth district Rep. Richard Gomez and Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez of Ormoc City were reelected.
Lucy’s sister Caren won as councilor while their brother Matt was reelected as Mayor of Kananga.
Roland “Kerwin” Espinosa won as mayor in Albuera with his sister Marielle as vice mayor, lawyer Bennet Pongos in Isabel, and DM Oñate in Palompon.
Mayor Bernie Tacoy of Matag-ob and Roland Villasencio of were given fresh mandates.
Rep. Carl Cari was reelected in the fifth district with his uncle Board Member Mike Cari. BM Carlo Loreto, the governor’s cousin, was reelected.
Rep. Cari’s father Mayor Boying was reelected mayor in Baybay City, along with Mayor Lemuel Gin of Abuyog and Linlin Villahermosa of Hilongos.
Newly elected mayors were Tata Gertos of Bato, Jun Cabal of Hindang, Asuzena Mirambel of Inopacan, and Elvira Pajulio of Matalom.
