BACOLOD CITY – Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson was reelected for his third and final term in Negros Occidental.

The Provincial Board of Canvassers led by Provincial Election Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria proclaimed Lacson at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall here on Tuesday, May 13.

Lacson garnered 911,614 votes against his closest opponent, former Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, and three others.
In a statement, Lacson thanked the people of Negros for their unwavering trust and confidence.
“This overwhelming show of support, given to me by our people, is as humbling as it is affirming. To me, it means that my fellow Negrenses have recognized our hard work and felt the sincerity of our service,” he said.
Lacson’s running mate, fourth district board member Joeben Alonso, was elected vice governor, with 680,339 votes.
Alonso succeeded Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, who was elected congressman of the fourth district. He defeated former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Director Lea Delfinado.
Also proclaimed winners were Jules Ledesma, first district congressman, who ran unopposed; reelected second district Rep. Alfredo Marañon III, Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, third district representative, reelected fifth district Rep. Emilio “Dino” Yulo, and reelected sixth district Rep. Mercedes Alvarez.
Voter turnout was 83.22 percent or 1,369,632 out of 1,645,852 registered voters casting their ballots in 31 cities and municipalities.
