BACOLOD CITY – A 19-year-old college student who allegedly stabbed an 18-year-old man to death in a bar in Barangay Mandalagan here on Tuesday, May 13, surrendered to the police on Wednesday afternoon, May 14.

Police Capt. Rondyl Tapang, head of Police Station 3, said that Adrian, accompanied by his father and Barangay 18 officials here, surrendered to Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, city police director.

Tapang said that the suspect was identified by a witness as the individual who allegedly stabbed the victim with a folding knife when a commotion ensued between two groups in the bar on Lacson St.
The victim, whose name was withheld, and the suspect figured in a heated argument due to drunkenness that led to the incident, according to Tapang.
The victim, a resident of Talisay City, Negros Occidental, sustained stab wounds in the chest and stomach and passed away in a hospital.
The photo of the suspect circulated on social media on Tuesday, after the victim’s family sought the help of the public in searching for his whereabouts.
Tapang believed that the suspect may have fled after the incident due to fear.
He said that homicide charges are being readied against the suspect, who is now under police custody.
The Bacolod City Police Office commended the cooperation of the community in ensuring the peaceful surrender of the suspect and reiterated their commitment to bring justice to the victim while ensuring due process.
