Malapitan garnered 266,789 votes, winning over his rival, former Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV who got 175,563 votes based on the partial and unofficial tally from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as of 9:51 a.m. on May 13.
In his social media post, the city mayor thanked his supporters and vowed to continue serving the batang kankaloos.
“Buong puso po akong nagpapasalamat sa aking mga kapwa Batang Kankaloo sa inyong tiwala at pagmamahal na muli ninyong ipinakita ngayong halalan,” he said.
“Asahan nyo po na patuloy ko itong susuklian ng ibayong malasakit at tapat na paglilingkod upang mas maiparamdam sa inyo na ang inyong lingkod ay para sa kanyang mga kapwa Batang Kankaloo,” he added.
Meanwhile, his running mate, Karina Teh, got 268,422 votes against PJ Malonzo, who garnered 150,760 votes.
Former Mayor and incumbent First District representative Oscar “Oca” Malapitan was also re-elected with 146, 691 votes against his rivals, Rey Malonzo, who garnered 50,716 votes, and Johram Alama, with 6,274 votes.
