BAGUIO CITY – The Board of Canvassers of the Commission on Elections officially proclaimed the winning candidates of this city at around 1 a.m. on May 13.
MAGALONG (center) is proclaimed Baguio City mayor by the Comelec.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong was reelected, Mauricio Domogan is congressman, and Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan was also reelected.
“This victory is not just mine; it is a victory for every resident of Baguio who believes in honest governance, inclusive leadership, and a vision for a better, more progressive city. Thank you for your trust, courage, and love for our city. Now that the noise of the election has subsided, it is time for us to turn our energies towards reconciliation, unity, and shared goals. Let’s put aside the bickering. Let us rise above division and instead focus on working together, supporting the leaders chosen by the people, and continuing the journey of sustainable development for our beloved Baguio,” Magalong said.
Winners were proclaimed at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center.
Magalong, under the Good Governance Alliance party, garnered 55,497 votes, compared to his fierce rival, Rep. Mark Go, who personally went to the BCCC to concede and congratulate Magalong on his victory.
Domogan earned 45,767 votes and called on citizens and his fellow candidates to unite now that the elections are over. “Let’s forgive and forget those who were hurt because of the conflict during the campaign. Now is the time to serve the city of Baguio well.”
Winning councilors were: Edison Bilog (58,218), Joel Alangsab (57,174); Jose Molintas (56 196); Leandro Yangot (55 972); Vladimir Cayabas (53,461); No.6 Peter Fianza (51,602); Van Dicang (49,434); Fred Bagbage (48,642); Paolo Salvosa (48,544); Lourdes Tabanda (47,807); Yuri Weygan (47,054), and Elmer Datuin (46,036).
Rep. Eric Yap won in a landslide victory in the province of Benguet, with 137,574 votes against Tagel Felipe, who had 50,438.
Melchor Diclas was reelected Benguet governor (110,602) while Marie Rose Fongwan-Kepes is vice governor (110,743).
Leading as provincial board members in District 1 of Benguet are Sander Fianza, Johannes Amuasen, Charmaine Molintas, Thomas Wales, Myrna Nazarr, Jani Galutan, Jhonar Rebutazo, and Lison Latawan Jr.
Up in District 2 are Ruben Tinda-an, Romeo Salda, Manny Fermin, Armando Lauro, Neptali Camsol, Frenzel Ayong, Jim Botiwey, and Joel Tingbaoen.
