Francisco “Isko Moreno" Domagoso was officially proclaimed the newly elected mayor of Manila on Tuesday, May 13, following his victory in the 2025 midterm elections.
The proclamation was held at the Manila City Hall by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) City Board of Canvassers. Domagoso received the certificate of proclamation in front of election officials, supporters, and members of the media.
Domagoso, who previously served as mayor from 2019 to 2022, returns to lead the capital city after securing a decisive win over incumbent Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and other candidates.
Lacuna-Pangan, who succeeded Domagoso in 2022, sought reelection but was unseated after one term.
In brief remarks following the proclamation, Domagoso expressed gratitude to the people of Manila for their renewed trust and vowed to continue pushing for programs aimed at uplifting the lives of ordinary Manileños.
"I'll do my best to be a better mayor... Kalmahin niyo ang mga sarili niyo. Huwag tayong mag away-away. (Calm yourselves. Let's not fight each other) Let's move on with our lives."
He is expected to assume office on June 30, 2025, as mandated by law.
He ran for president in 2022 but lost. His victory in the mayoral race marks a significant comeback in local governance.
