Gerald German, former vice mayor and municipal administrator, was elected as the new mayor of Pateros in the May 12 national and local elections.
The Commission on Elections’ Municipal Board of Canvassers (MBOC), composed of Election Officer Armando Mallorca, Public Schools District Supervisor Leny Manaoat and Municipal Treasurer Rami Legaspi, proclaimed the winners in the local elections in Pateros.
Based on Comelec’s Municipal Certificate of Canvass for Pateros, German, who ran under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), garnered 16,459 votes (55.87 percent) to win as mayor against rival Ronaldo Miranda of the National Unity Party (NUP) who received 13,001 votes (44.13 percent).
German served as Sangguniang Kabataan chairman, barangay kagawad, three-term councilor, and three-term vice mayor of Pateros. He was appointed municipal administrator by outgoing Mayor Miguel Ponce III.
For vice mayor, incumbent Carlo Santos of the Nacionalista Party was reelected with total votes of 15,678 (53.94 percent) against John Peter Marzan of the National Unity Party (NUP) who got 9,393 votes (32.32 percent) and John Cerafica of the PFP who received 3,992 votes (13.74 percent).
A total of 30,560 voters in Pateros participated in the polls out of 37,830 registered voters or a turnout of 80.78 percent.
