DAVAO CITY – Detained Former President Rodrigo Duterte and his family are poised to win big in this city.
Partial and unofficial results from the Commission on Elections Media Server as of 12:38 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, showed former President Duterte with 646,275 votes.
Trailing behind by a wide margin is his rival, former Cabinet Secretary and lawyer Karlo Nograles with 79,750.
This will be the elder Duterte’s fourth term as mayor of this city. He previously served from 1988 to 1998, 2001 to 2010, and 2013 to 2016.
It is also his first elected position since stepping down from the presidency in 2022.
Former President Duterte’s son, Mayor Sebastian, has a commanding lead in the vice mayoral race with 635,224 votes against Councilor Bernie Al-Ag (77,813).
Rep. Paolo Duterte is leading rival Margarita “Migs” Nograles. His first son, Omar Vincent, is on top in the congressional race in the second district.
The lawmaker’s second son and namesake of the former President, Rodrigo II, is the leading councilor in the first district.
