House "Young Guns" bloc member Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Jil Bongalon has conceded to Tabaco City Mayor Krisel Lagman in the race for Albay's 1st district congressional seat.

"With a heart full of gratitude, humility, and hope, I offer my most sincere congratulations to Mayor Krisel Lagman on her victory," Bongalon wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday morning, May 13.

Mayor Lagman is the daughter of the late Albay 1st district Rep. Edcel Lagman.

"We may have lost the vote, but we have not lost our voice, our values, or our vision for a better future. In defeat, I remain committed," Bongalon said.

The outgoing party-list solon asked his followers to "continue to support our leaders and remain committed to our responsibilities as Albayanos".

He said that he was "never driven by personal ambitions" but was instead fueled by "service, about fighting for improved opportunities, and striving for genuine, impactful change".

"Maraming salamat po sa inyong tiwala, pagmamahal, at panalangin (Thank you very much for your trust, love, and prayers). I will forever be proud to have walked this journey with all of you," Bongalon said.

Lagman is a former House minority leader.
