Ashfall from latest Kanlaon eruption reported in 10 Bacolod villages

BACOLOD CITY – Ashfall from today’s moderately explosive eruption of Kanlaon Volcano was reported in 10 barangays here.

Affected, according to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, were Barangays 9, 21, 33, Alijis, Mansilingan, Singcang-Airport, Taculing, Tangub, Villamonte, and Vista Alegre.

Ash particles were reportedly carried away by rainfall to this city.

Photos were posted on social media showing the extent of the ashfall in some affected areas.

Residents in these areas were advised to take precautions, limit outdoor exposure, and use face masks or damp cloth to cover nose and mouth, keep windows and doors closed, and protect water sources.

The public was also encouraged to report ashfall in their areas for assessment and safety.

Kanlaon erupted at 2:55 a.m. a day after the elections and generated a grayish voluminous plume three kilometers above the vent.
