“I already suggested to Honeylet just open the house for public viewing so they can see where former President Duterte used to eat, where he slept, things like that. So, we can share his life with the people on how he lived here,” Vice President Duterte said here in the local dialect.
Volunteers have been taking turns in guarding the house of the former Chief Executive.
Though no official discussions have been held with the Duterte patriarch, who is still detained in a detention facility of the International Criminal Court in The Hague the Netherlands, the Vice President said that she is confident that her father would agree with her suggestion.
“I said, let us open the house to the public since he is no longer with us. At least people can see how he lived when he was here. I am sure he’ll agree. That house is special to him,” she added as she recalled that the house at Doña Vicenta was once a place often visited by supporters.
Supporters present during the interview cheered and welcomed the proposal. Vice President Duterte thanked Davaoeños and the Filipino people who continue to express their love, support, and prayers for former President Duterte’s return to the city.
