Several voters at the Nemesio Yabut Elementary School in Makati City went home frustrated and without casting their votes after failing to find their names or their precinct number during Monday's midterm elections. 

Socorro, a 58-year-old vendor, told the Manila Bulletin that she has been at the polling center since 7:30 a.m., but has yet to find her precinct number.

"Nakakayamot ang gulo gulo nila. Hinahanap ko presinto ko pero wala talaga, maski yung mga taga rito na dapat naga-assist sa mga kagaya kong hindi mahanap saan dapat bumoto hindi din alam (This is so frustrating. They are so disorganized. I have been looking for my precinct but I still couldn't find it. Even those who should be assisting us don't know where it is)," she exclaimed.

"Kanina pa ako panik-panaog dito ang sakit na ng kasu-kasuan ko. Walang sistema talaga nakakagago. Uuwi nalang po ako (I've been going up and down the stairs here and my joints are hurting. There's really no system. It feels like a joke. I'll just go home)," she added angrily.

For his part, 48-year-old tricycle driver Rudivico slammed poll authorities after discovering that his name was not included on the voters' list despite being able to vote during the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in 2023.

"Nasayang lang oras ko sir, kanina pa po ako nakapila dito, tapos wala pangalan ko sa listahan? Sabi ko nakaboto ako nung barangay elections nung nakaraan dito kaya paano mawawala pangalan ko sa listahan. Sabi nila i-checheck daw nila ulit pero hanggang ngayon wala pa din. Kanina pang alas-siete yun, mag alas-diez na (My time was wasted. I've been in line here since 7 a.m. for the regular voting only to find out that my name is not on the list? I told them that I was able to cast my vote during the previous barangay elections that's why it is impossible for me to not be included on the list. They told me they will check on it, but until now they haven't updated me about it. It's already 10 a.m.) Rudivico said while cursing.

Meanwhile, an automatic counting machine (ACM) inside the school reportedly broke down, halting the voting process.

The authorities have yet to announce what time the replacement ACM will arrive.

Despite having a priority polling precinct for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWD), and pregnant women, long queues were still observed inside the school.

Arriving at the school at around 6 a.m., elderly couple Bernardino and Josefina said they have yet to cast their votes as of 9 a.m. due to the long line and long waiting hours at the polling place.

"Mahirap bumoto ngayon. Sa totoo lang, mas mahirap ngayon kesa noon kasi ngayon, ang tagal ng proseso. Andaming hinihingi, hinahanap, eh wala namang abiso sa amin kung ano yung mga dapat naming dalhin at saka gawin (It isn't easy to vote now. Honestly, it's more difficult now than before because of the long and tedious process of casting your vote. They are asking a lot from us but they did not tell us about those in advance before coming here)," Josefina said.

"Parang hindi din gumagalaw pila. Akala namin priority lane ito, mas mabilis makaboto at saka mas madali, pero parang doble pasakit lang po eh (It seems like the line is not even moving. We thought this is a priority lane where it will be easier and faster to cast our vote. But I think it's even worse here)," she added.

At least 12 million senior citizens and 530,000 PWDs were expected to vote Monday, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia said.

Over 68 million Filipinos are expected to exercise their right to suffrage.
