Reelectionist Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon reminded voters to check their voting receipts to ensure that the names match the candidates that they selected for the May 12 national and local elections.
Biazon, who is running unopposed as mayor, cast his vote at De La Salle Zobel School in Barangay Ayala Alabang in Muntinlupa on May 12.
In a Facebook post, the mayor said voters should also inspect their ballot before voting, shade their ballots right, and let the ink dry before putting it into the automated counting machine (ACM).
While there are reports of election-related violence in different parts of the country, Biazon said it’s peaceful in Muntinlupa.
Dumadami ang balita ng election-related violence sa iba't-ibang bahagi ng bansa. May mga namatay pa sa ibang lugar. Salamat mga Muntinlupeños, tinaguyod niyo ang kapayapaan sa ating lungsod.
“News of election-related violence is increasing in various parts of the country. There have been deaths in other areas. Thank you, Muntinlupeños, for maintaining peace in our city,” Biazon wrote.
Like in other parts of the country, Muntinlupa polling precincts opened at 5 a.m. for early voting, catering to persons with disability (PWDs), senior citizens and pregnant voters. Regular voting started at 7 a.m.
At one clustered precinct at Itaas Elementary School in Barangay Poblacion, Muntinlupa, the voting was delayed when the ACM malfunctioned. This resulted in long lines of voters.
