The national and local elections in Muntinlupa were peaceful, according to the chief of the Muntinlupa police.
“Generally peaceful,” said Col. Robert Domingo on Monday, may 12.
Domingo said the city police force has been very ready since January.
Citing data from January to the present, Domingo said there were no reports of election-related incidents in the city.
Election-related violence refers to incidents such as shooting and harassment.
“I’m happy because as your chief of police, napakasayang pakinggan na (it’s nice to hear that) Muntinlupa is safe, na wala tayong mga ganong insidente ng barilan, na away, magkakapitbahay na nagkaroon tayo ng hati-hati. So wala tayong ganon (’m happy because as your chief of police, it’s nice to hear that Muntinlupa is safe, that we don't have shooting incidents, fights, neighbors who are divided. So we don't have that),” said Domingo.
Domingo visited voting centers in Muntinlupa and assessed security measures at schools.
One of them was Alabang Elementary School, which has 32,655 voters, ranked 17th by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) among voting centers nationwide with the highest number of registered voters.
Doming said “Muntinlupa is strong. The people and the community of Muntinlupa are very strong.”
