The Madalag Municipal Police Station will file charges against the suspect for violating Resolution No. 11104 of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Police said the suspect was acting suspicious and noticed that his waist was bulging. The suspect was frisked and envelopes tucked around his waist were discovered.
Despite numerous complaints, this was the only arrest for alleged vote-buying made in the entire Western Visayas region.
“He was caught in the act,” Solis said on Monday, May 12.
Solis said that it was hard to make arrests in other instances as the alleged perpetrators were not caught in the act.
Since Friday, complaints of alleged vote-buying and vote-selling have been reported in Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces as well as the regional capital of Iloilo City.
