'Mabrewhay' Craft Beer Festival to become Makati's longest summer beer event
Three-day celebration brings together breweries, music, and food at Ayala Triangle Gardens
By MB Lifestyle
Engkanto Brewery is organizing the first Mabrewhay Craft Beer Festival from May 16 to 18 at Ayala Triangle Gardens, in partnership with Ayala Land and Make It Makati. Admission is free.
The festival’s name is a play on the Filipino word “Mabuhay” — meaning “welcome” or “long live” — combined with “brew,” reflecting both Filipino hospitality and the focus on craft beer.
The event follows last year’s Craft Beer Fest, which recorded an estimated 7,500 attendees over two days. This year’s festival will run for three consecutive days, making it the longest craft beer event in Makati.
Participating breweries include Boondocks Brewing, Bulul Brewery, Craft Beer Sanctuary, Cubao X Brewery, Elias Wicked Ales & Spirits, Kumintang Brewery, Mitchell’s Backyard Brewery, Monkey Eagle Brewery, Palm Tree Abbey, Papa Bolo, and Treeline Ales. Several of these breweries have received local and regional recognition, including awards from the Asia Beer Championship and Brew King Philippines.
Educational segments will be led by the Philippine Craft Brewers Association, Manila Mashers Homebrewing Club, Hitachino Nest (Japan), and Yakima Chief Hops. These sessions will feature brewer discussions, a hops sensory experience, homebrewing demonstrations, and tasting classes.
Cebu Pacific is offering a raffle prize of a trip to Chiang Mai. Other giveaways include flip-flops from Havaianas and ride vouchers from GrabCar. Activities include a frisbee bootcamp hosted by the Nuvali Frisbee Club, cornhole games, and a photography workshop by Fujifilm Philippines.
Live music will feature performances by Anima Tierra, Purples n’ Oranges, of Mercury, Uncle Bob's Funky Seven Club, Rafael Sudayan, and Mint Magic. DJ sets from the Groovesetters and DJ SARAH will also run throughout the weekend.
Food and retail vendors will be present at the venue.
Festival hours are:
- May 16 (Friday): 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
- May 17 (Saturday): 12 noon to 1 a.m.
- May 18 (Sunday): 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
