House Speaker Martin Romualdez--who is running unopposed in his bid for a third straight term as congressman--has cast his vote in the ongoing May 12 elections.

Romualdez did so in his home city of Tacloban in Leyte 1st congressional district.

“Every vote is a declaration of hope. It’s a stand for good governance, unity, and a better Philippines,” Romualdez, Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) president and a lawyer from the University of the Philippines (UP), said after he voted at Precinct No. 0480B in V&G Dela Cruz Memorial Elementary School.

“I urge every Filipino to vote with conviction and with the future in mind,” said the leader of the 306-member House of Representatives leader.

Romualdez has served five terms in the lower chamber since 2007. His imminent re-election will mark his continued commitment to the welfare of his constituents in the district where his public service began.

He underscored the importance of the 2025 mid-term elections in determining the trajectory of the Bagong Pilipinas agenda of President Marcos.

“These elections are about continuity and change—continuity of the reforms we’ve started, and change that uplifts every Filipino family,” said Romualdez, a cousin of the Chief Executive.

During the campaign period, he rallied the people of the Eastern Visayas to support President Marcos' Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate. He emphasized their role as the President’s chosen partners for the realization of his Agenda for Prosperity.

“Let us vote not just with emotion, but with purpose and discernment,” Romualdez stressed.
