This year, Eid al-Fitr, meaning “the Festival of Breaking the Fast,” occurred on March 31, marking the end of the month of Ramadan. And when this time happens, it is time for celebration—or “Hari Raya”—which in Malaysia typically refers to Eid al-Fitr (Hari Raya Aidilfitri). The general meaning of “Hari Raya” is “celebration day.”
And for this special intimate reception, the Malaysian Embassy in the Philippines, led by Counsellor Nadhirah Mohammad Zanudin, Counsellor Farahliza and her husband Inspector Ikhwan, co-hosted an afternoon celebration and invited friends to share good food, laughter and warm camaraderie. Counsellor Nadhirah shared they celebrate Eid al-Fitr with a monthlong fete.
Joining the social gathering were fellow diplomats from Brunei, Indonesia, Morocco and Singapore; Ichi Yabut from the Makati City government; Malaysian professionals working for the Asian Development Bank and Japanese Tobacco International; members of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce; and Malaysian Embassy officials and family members.
