The Seoul SK Knights dismantled Carl Tamayo and the Changwon LG Sakers, 73-48, to avoid a finals sweep in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) finals Sunday, May 11.
The Knights got off to a strong start and seized an early 26-10 separation which was enough to set the tone and deny the Sakers from hoisting the crown and keep their title quest alive despite a daunting task of erasing a 1-3 series deficit.
Seoul tries to ride the momentum with Game 5 scheduled on Tuesday, April 13.
Juan Gómez de Liaño played for just five minutes and tallied one rebound, while Kim Sun-Hyung (15), Jameel Warney (14), An Young-Jun (13), and Oh Se-Eun (11) led Seoul's offense.
After notching five straight games of double-digit outputs, Tamayo was limited to just seven points along with seven rebounds, and one assist.
Assem Marei had 10 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and two steals in a losing effort for the Sakers. Yu Ki-Sang and Heo Il-Young added seven and six points, respectively.
Tamayo, though, with a win on Tuesday, could become the second Filipino to win a KBL championship in league history.
The first one was Rhenz Abando who earned the feat with the Anyang JKJ Red Boosters in 2023, beating the Knights in seven games.
