'Gusto nyo patayin ko kayo?': Man posing as NBI agent shoots cops in Makati

A man who posed as an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was arrested for firing his gun at police officers in Makati City on Sunday night, May 11, the Makati City Police said.
The suspect was identified as "Arleen." He was arrested near a mall in Barangay Bel-Air, Makati City.
Based on the police report released by the police on Monday, May 12, members of the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) of the Southern Police District (SPD) and the Makati City Police were conducting a covert anti-robbery operation along Nicanor Garcia Street when the suspect approached them and identified himself as an NBI agent.
He asked the operatives if they were police officers and when they confirmed it, Arleen told them that he had a gun.
"Gusto nyo patayin ko kayo?" the suspect reportedly told the policemen before he fired at them with a Glock 17 pistol.
The DSOU personnel quickly took cover and a short foot chase ensued. The suspect fled towards a nearby residential structure and after a brief standoff, Arleen surrendered to the police.
The officers recovered the suspect's pistol as well as three loaded magazines.
"The suspect is currently under police custody pending the filing of appropriate criminal charges. A follow-up investigation is underway to determine any additional liabilities and affiliations," the Makati City Police said.
"This successful operation reflects the unwavering commitment of the Southern Police District and the Makati CPS to safeguard our communities from criminal elements. The courage and restraint shown by our operatives prevented further harm and ensured the safety of the public,” Makati City Police chief Col. Jean Dela Torre noted.
