- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc officially convened the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) on Monday afternoon, May 12, which will canvass votes for senators and party-lists.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia, who serves as the canvassing panel's chief, officially convened the NBOC around 3:30 in the afternoon. The legal counsel of various senatorial candidates and party lists initiated the session with the entering of appearance.
This was followed by the showcasing of the sealed consolidation and canvassing system (CCS), which was initialized after Garcia entered his login credentials. After initialization, a report was produced showing that the system has zero votes recorded.
This was then shown to the party list's legal counsel, as well as various election watchdogs, stakeholders, and observers who were present during the event.
Since there are no certificates of canvass expected to be received, the NBOC adjourned its session and will resume by 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13.
Sitting as the NBOC, the poll body will canvass votes for senators and party-lists.
