LEGAZPI CITY – The national and local elections in the Bicol region concluded smoothly, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) said on Monday evening.
In an interview, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said the situation in the region was "manageable and stable," as he attributed the outcome to the wide-range preparations and coordinated efforts of all security forces.
"All security forces, from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Philippine National Police are on guard and ready to respond to any untoward incident," he said.
Dizon said the success of this election was due to dedicated officers, partner agencies, and the public.
Despite the generally peaceful outcome, isolated incidents were recorded, including vote-buying in Camarines Sur.
Dizon said the strict implementation of the gun ban was crucial in maintaining order and minimizing risks during the election period.
Additionally, a total of 26,482 checkpoints screened potential threats and enforced election-related regulations.
