33 nabbed for violating liquor ban in 3 provinces

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Thirty-three individuals were apprehended for violating the nationwide liquor ban across the provinces of Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Tarlac, according to a report from Police Regional Office-Central Luzon (PRO-3) on Monday.

The liquor ban in effect from midnight Sunday to midnight Monday is part of the Commission on Elections' mandate to ensure peaceful and orderly polls.

The ban prohibits the sale, purchase, and public consumption of alcoholic beverages.

PRO-3 said the violators are facing legal charges in accordance with Comelec Resolution No. 11057 of the Omnibus Election Code, with cases promptly filed in court.

PRO-3 Director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo emphasized that the crackdown on liquor ban violators forms part of the wider security strategy during the election period.

“The strict enforcement of the liquor ban is crucial to maintaining public order and safety. We will not allow alcohol consumption to compromise peace in our communities, especially at such a critical time,” Fajardo said in a statement.

Fajardo urged the public to cooperate and comply with election-related policies to help guarantee a safe, secure, and credible electoral process throughout Central Luzon. (with PNA)
