In a video message for Mother’s Day, Duterte expressed her “heartfelt” greeting to all mothers and to anyone who serves as mothers of their families.
“Ipinagdiriwang natin ang inyong katatagan, sakripisyo, at wagas na pagmamahal (We are celebrating your resiliency, sacrifice, and pure love),” she said.
For every day you spent nurturing, supporting, and guiding your children and loved ones, you embody the kind of love that’s true, pure, and unparalleled),” she added.
Duterte earlier shared in a media interview that she will be spending a Mother’s Day dinner with her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman, and siblings Paolo and Sebastian.
They will likely discuss the detention of their father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, in The Hague, she said.
As a child and mother herself, the Vice President underscored how she strives to live virtuously and with integrity.
As children and mothers who are still learning—we give back by loving, respecting, and working to live with dignity, compassion, and integrity for the people and country),” she said.
Duterte shared that her mother has been helping her raise her own kids, even going with her and her youngest child to campaign sorties so she can look after them.
