Scattered rain showers to prevail over extreme Northern Luzon; hot weather to persist in rest of PH
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, May 11 said most of the country will continue to experience hot and humid weather, with chances of afternoon or evening rain showers over the next 24 hours.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said no tropical cyclones have been monitored inside the Philippine area of responsibility as of Sunday.
He explained that a frontal system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
A frontal system is formed by the convergence of warm and cold air masses.
Residents in extreme Northern Luzon are advised to remain alert for possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, caused by warm easterly winds from the Pacific Ocean.
The public is urged to stay vigilant for flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Badrina noted that these weather conditions may persist through Election Day on Monday, May 12.
