Police arrested a 57-year-old farmer after guns and bullets were recovered during a raid in his house in Sitio Cansilayan, Barangay 11, Victorias City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, May 10, as part of heightened security operations in Negros Island ahead of the May 12 elections.

The raid was conducted on a search warrant issued by the Silay City, Negros Occidental Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 40 against the suspect, Ricardo, for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Recovered from the suspect were a Para-Ordnance P7-45 pistol with magazine and .45 caliber ammunition, a .22 caliber revolver with no serial number, an improvised shotgun with 12-gauge ammunition, .38 caliber, .30 caliber, and 5.56mm bullets, an MK26 hand grenade, and a 40mm M203 high explosive cartridge.
The suspect’s 27-year-old son, Marvin, was also arrested after he emerged from a nearby house reportedly armed with a .38 caliber revolver.
Seized items will undergo forensic testing and suspects will be charged accordingly.
