Driver-bodyguard of mayoral bet shot dead in billiards hall

BANAYOYO, Ilocos Sur – A 49-year-old driver-bodyguard of a mayoral candidate was shot and killed by gunmen on board a motorcycle while playing billiards in Sitio Greenhills, Barangay Elepante, Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur on Saturday, May 10.
Police identified the victim a Marvin A. Singaben of Barangay Poblacion, Banayoyo.
The victim was said to be the driver-bodyguard of Banayoyo mayoral candidate Councilor Alex Galanga.
The victim was playing billiards with a man identified as Sony Gacutan when two men riding a motorcycle arrived. One of the suspects shot the victim with a caliber .45 pistol. Singaben died on the spot.
The suspects fled and recovered from the crime scene were five empty shells.
Singaben was declared dead on arrival in a hospital due to multiple bullet wounds.
Police said the driver was wearing a black jacket, long shorts, and a white ball cap. His passenger was clad in a brown T-shirt, shorts, and a black ball cap.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
