Congressional bet Lino Cayetano hits fake news on disqualification

1st District of Taguig-Pateros congressional candidate Lino Cayetano refuted fake news being spread that he has been disqualified to run in the May 12 national and local elections. 

“We are not disqualified,” Cayetano posted on Facebook. 

He said, “Hangang huling minuto - pakalat ng pakalat ng pakalat ng balita na disqualified tayo. Sigurado hindi yan galing sa Cayetano. (Until the last minute - news is being spread that I am disqualified. That is definitely not from Cayetano).” 

“We are not disqualified. Hindi po. District 1 Taguig Pateros, tulad ng sinabi ko itong huling 45days - pilit tayo gusto mawala sa laban pero hangga’t korte suprema ang nagdesisyon - kahit ano pa issue ibato nila tungkol sa disqualification - tayo ay nasa balota sabi mismo ng Comelec. (No. District 1 Taguig Pateros, like I said in the last 45 days - they are trying hard for us to disappear from the fight but until the Supreme Court decides - no matter what issue they throw about disqualification - we are on the ballot, the Comelec itself said),” he said.

Cayetano is running for congressman against incumbent Rep. Ricardo Cruz Jr., Allan Cerafica, Peter dela Cruz and Ricardo Opoc. 

The director and former mayor of Taguig cited the past disqualification cases filed against his sister-in-law, Mayor Lani Cayetano, and his brother, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, which were dismissed. 

“May naghain din ng disqualification kay Mayor lani noong tumakbo siya sa district 2 at si Kuya Alan sa District 1 noong 2019.  Malinaw ang naging hatol doon. Pareho sila nanalo at naproklama (Someone also filed a disqualification against Mayor Lani when she ran in district 2 and Kuya Alan in District 1 in 2019. The verdict was clear there. They both won and were proclaimed),” he said. 

“We are not disqualified. Galawan yan ng desperado. Sa mga gusto manira. Matatag ang pamilya Cayetano.  Wag mag alala, we will always work together for the good of Taguig, Pateros and the Filipino people! Makakasigurado kayo (That is the act of a desperate person. To those who want to discredit. The Cayetano family is strong. Don't worry, we will always work together for the good of Taguig, Pateros and the Filipino people! You can be sure of that),” he said.
