Ayala sounds alarm on deepfake-driven investment fraud
Ayala Corporation has warned against fraudulent social media posts that utilize deepfake technology to falsely portray its Chairman, Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, endorsing investment opportunities.
The conglomerate clarified that it has no association whatsoever with the individuals or entities behind these deceptive posts, which actively solicit public participation in purported investment schemes.
In its advisory, the conglomerate said, "Ayala is not in any way associated with individuals or firms behind posts that invite the public to participate in an investment scheme. These posts are deepfakes."
The company urged the public to exercise caution and critical thinking when encountering such online content. Ayala advised individuals not to engage with these misleading posts and instead encouraged them to report the pages responsible for disseminating this fraudulent material to the respective social media platforms for violating community guidelines.
Ayala emphasized that its official communication channels with the public are limited to its official website and verified social media pages, namely the Ayala Corporation Facebook page, the Instagram account @WeAreAyala, and the Ayala page on LinkedIn.
