CAMP Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – A 38-year-old woman was arrested after P1.6 million in cash allegedly for vote-buying was found in her possession in a Commission on Elections checkpoint in Barangay Poblacion West, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, on Saturday, May 10.

Lawmen flagged down Hyundai Accent driven by Regine, a resident of Barangay Calipahan, Talavera, Nueva Ecija.
Police noted a slightly open eco-bag inside the car appeared to be filled with cash during an interview.
The woman allegedly admitted that it contained P1.6 million.
Regine was arrested and taken to the police station for appropriate investigation.
She faces a case for violating Section 28 of Comelec Resolution No. 11104, which prohibits bringing large amounts of money during the election period unless accompanied by legal documentation.
Police Brig. Gen. Jean S. Fajardo, Police Regional Office-3 chief, encouraged the public to support the Philippine National Police’s efforts to maintain the integrity of the elections and promptly report any violations.
