Manny Villar, Las Piñas rally behind Camille Villar in her Senate bid
Nacionalista Party stalwart and former Senate president Manny Villar led a powerful show of support Friday for his daughter, senatorial candidate Camille Villar, during a grand Miting de Avance held at The Tent in Las Piñas City.
“Si Camille, sa ano mang aspeto, hindi tayo mapapahiya dito,” Manny Villar said before a crowd of over 5,000 supporters. He praised Camille’s intelligence, track record, and charisma, declaring her someone the community can be proud of. “Talagang maipagmamalaki natin siya.”
Camille Villar, who is currently serving as Deputy Speaker in the House of Representatives, is vying for a seat in the Senate for the first time. Her campaign has emphasized infrastructure development and a commitment to the values of public service instilled by her parents.
Senator Cynthia Villar, meanwhile, highlighted the Villar family’s contributions to Las Piñas, including the 40-kilometer Riverdrive project that significantly eased traffic congestion and shortened travel times to Cavite and nearby cities.
In her remarks, Camille Villar thanked Las Piñeros for their continued support, acknowledging the emotional toll of the campaign. “Hindi po naging madali ang eleksyon at kampanyang ito,” she said. “Marami po tayong hinarap na paninira… Pag nakikita ko po kayo, binibigyan nyo po ako ng lakas ng loob.”
As the campaign period draws to a close, Camille Villar reaffirmed her pledge to champion infrastructure projects and other advocacies aimed at national progress.
The Villar family’s united front at the rally underscored their political influence in Las Piñas, where they have long held sway in both local and national politics.
