Kakie Pangilinan, former senator and senatorial candidate Kiko Pangilinan’s and Megastar Sharon Cuneta’s daughter, penned a heartfelt letter seeking the support of local chief executives to support her father’s senatorial bid, citing long years of service, honesty, and integrity.

In an Instagram post by Cuneta, she said that Kakie wrote the letter in the midst of preparing for her college graduation requirements, which she also mentioned in the first part of her letter.
Kakie wrote that she decided that a handwritten letter from her will be more personal “in this age of digital impermanence.”
“With it (handwritten letter), I send a sincere and humble optimism that you might consider supporting my dad in the upcoming election,” she said.
She lamented that their family “stood by helplessly for several years now as the smear campaigns have persisted against him,” noting that the “misrepresentations of his character are as heartbreaking as they are untrue.”
“My father is a deeply humble, consistent man who keeps decades-old t-shirts and listens to disco music and makes it a point to attend all of our sport meets, recitals, parent-teacher conferences,” Kakie shared.
The former senator, she added, had the same watch and wallet “for as long as I can remember” and wore the same pairs of sneakers until one of her cousins gifted him with a new pair in 2022.
“These are the traits he's exhibited for all is life, in all its facets. For over 20 years he's served the Filipino people with this consistency, this diligence and discipline, and he continues to demonstrate not only the intelligence, the aptitude, but more honesty and integrity than most people have the capacity to carry,” she stressed.
Kakie took pride in her father’s “experience, qualifications, and professional accomplishments” compared to other candidates who are seeking the same post.
Admitting that their family does not have the political machinery nor the billion-peso budget “to push for him as loudly as we ought to, as loudly as he deserves,” she decided to reach out to local mayors and push for her father’s advocacy of food security and agricultural development.
“I am reaching out to you as a young Filipino who still believes in our country's fundamental kindness, our potential for true strength and stability,” Kakie wrote.
“Please help us carry this dream forward - for the future of our meal tables, for the dignity and protection of our farmers and fisherfolk, and for all other Filipinos who still believe in true and compassionate leadership,” she added.
The former senator has dropped out of the Magic 12 in recent pre-election surveys, but is banking on last-minute decisions on Election Day to get into the winning circle.
