Police seized around 93 million worth of counterfeit footwear brand in three separate warehouses in Pampanga, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said on Saturday, May 10.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said his men conducted the operations along with the local police and representatives of footwear firm Crocs using a search warrant issued by a court for violation of Republic Act 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
He said the raids were conducted on May 7 in warehouses located at the Global Aseana Business Park 1 and at the Golden Sun 999 in San Simon, Pampanga.
Torre said the first warehouse yielded P36.7 million worth of counterfeit footwear while the second one, P27.7 million worth of illegal products. Around P28.5 million of assorted “Crocs” footwear were seized in the third warehouse.
“Our team also confiscated the raw materials in manufacturing and reproducing the alleged counterfeited footwear,” said Torre.
“With the confiscation of these alleged trademark infringing footwear, we significantly protected the exclusive rights of scientists, inventors, artists and other gifted citizens to their intellectual property and creations; and we also prevented unfair competition,” he added.
