ILOILO CITY—Pope Leo XIV visited Iloilo twice when he was still Fr. Robert Francis Prevost.
The University of San Agustin released several archive photos of the first Augustinian pontiff during his visit in 2002 and 2006 for congregation-led activities here.

It released photos of the American pope during the Provincial Intermediate Chapter of the Order of Saint Augustine, Province of Santo Niño de Cebu-Philippines from Feb. 27 to March 3, 2006 at its main campus.
The university heralded the election of Pope Leo XIV as a “historic moment for the universal Catholic Church and the Augustinian community.”
The USA Archives and Museum released separate photos of the prelate during another meeting at its main campus on February 2002.
The USA Archives and Museum also shared the photo published by the Junior Augustinian, the official student publication of the USA High School Department.
The Junior Augustinian showed the then Father Prevost as part of a concelebrated mass at the Sambag Chapel of its high school campus in Jaro District here.
Pope Leo XIV was the Prior General of the Augustinians when he visited.
Prevost reportedly also had other visits to the Augustinian university but these have yet to be verified.
