In his video message on Thursday, May 8, Marcos said Albanese's "resounding victory" speaks volume of the trust and confidence the people have in his leadership.
"To my friend, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, on your resounding victory, congratulations. This renewed mandate speaks volumes of the trust and confidence your people have in your leadership, and I have no doubt you shall carry it forward with the same resolve and vision that you have long defined your public service," Marcos said.
"The ties between our two countries have grown stronger with each passing year, anchored not just in shared values, but in genuine friendship," he added.
The President also expressed that he is looking forward to their next meeting.
"Perhaps this is a sign that it's time for another visit. I look forward to our next conversation, whether it's over a flat white down under or a rich cup of chocolate here in Old Manila," Marcos told Albanese.
Albanese visited Manila in September 2023 to formalize the Philippines and Australia's strategic partnership in security, counterterrorism, law enforcement, education and climate change.
The two officials met again in Australia during Marcos' two-day visit in February 2024.
