Kim Soo-hyun, agency file additional complaints vs Kim Sae-ron's family, YouTube channel

Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun and his agency, Gold Medalist, have filed additional legal complaints against the family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron and YouTube channel HoverLab (Garosero Research Institute). 

On May 9, Gold Medalist issued a statement, saying that, “Gold Medalist and Kim Soo-hyun today additionally filed a lawsuit and indictment against Kim Se-ui, the operator of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute, for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (defamation) and the Act on Punishment of Crime of Stalking, and the bereaved family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation).”

The lawyer representing Kim Sae-ron’s family and the operator of HoverLab held a press conference on May 7.

“As you know, Kim Se-ui spread the absurd false information at a press conference held on May 7, 2025 at 2:00 PM, saying, ‘Actor Kim Soo-hyun and the late actress Kim Sae-ron dated since middle school, and the late actress Kim Sae-ron had sexual relations for the first time during winter vacation of her second year of middle school, and there is a recording file to support this,’ and ‘Actor Kim Soo-hyun offered four billion won to the informant who provided the recording file and tried to kill the informant by sending two hitmen when the informant refused,’” Gold Medalist stated, Korea media reported. 

The family of Kim Sae-ron and HoverLab have accused Kim Soo-hyun of dating the late actress when she was a minor. 

The actress, in a statement written last year, said she and Kim Soo-hyun had a relationship from November 2015 to July 2021. 

Kim Soo Hyun admitted that he dated Kim Sae-ron but said it was from 2019 to 2020 after she became an adult. 

Kim Sae-ron was found dead last Feb. 16, Kim Soo-hyun’s birthday. 

The two sides have been at odds since March when HoverLab started accusing Kim Soo-hyun of dating Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor and pressuring her about her debt. Kim Soo-hyun’s side has denied all allegations. 

In the latest issue, HoverLab claimed that its informant was harmed and was offered money for evidence. 

Gold Medalist said the statement of HoverLab’s Kim Se-ui “are complete lies without even an inch of truth. Kim Se-ui has indiscriminately spread absurd false information about actor Kim Soo-hyun based on forged recording files and photos downloaded from the Internet. This is a serious criminal act that cannot be compared to the crimes Kim Se-ui has committed so far. Accordingly, Gold Medalist and actor Kim Soo-hyun have promptly filed additional lawsuits and indictments against Kim Se-ui and the bereaved family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron, and we would like to inform you that we will do our best to ensure that they are punished in accordance with the law and principles.”

Kim Soo-hyun’s side previously filed a complaint against Kim Sae-ron’s family, HoverLab and a person presented as an “aunt.” 

On the other hand, Kim Sae-ron’s family filed a complaint against Kim Soo-hyun for violation of the Child Welfare Act and false accusation.
